Mervyn Sullivan

Cashelmore, Enniskeane, Co Cork
My name is Mervyn Sullivan, and I have a farm in Cashelmore, Enniskeane, Co Cork.
I live on the farm with my wife Georgina and my daughters, Amanda and Sarah. Amanda is set to take over the farm in the future.
We farm around two hundred acres here in Cork. We mostly have British Friesian cows, and we run two white head bulls with the herd. We start calving in late January, early February, we keep the heifers until they are around 22 months, we carry the steers through to 24 or 26 months.
At one time my grandfather and then my father bred Hereford bulls, we’ve had a passion for them all of our lives. There has been Hereford bulls on this farm long before my time and I’ve had many of them pass through my hands.

I would recommend the Herefords to any farmer for the simple reason that they are easy calving, and they seem to do all the right things.

Hereford Prime are very good in supporting us on the farm. I am a steak man and a roast dinner man; I like the expensive cuts! The taste of the Hereford beef is beautiful. When I see Hereford Prime on a menu, which I do a lot, especially around Christmas, it makes me feel proud. I am happy to be part of it.
