Investing in the Future of Hereford Breeding: Shows Sponsored Across Ireland
Irish Hereford Prime has proudly supported the 2025 summer show season with sponsorship across seven major events, backing breeders and showcasing the strength and potential of the Hereford breed nationwide.
Iverk Show – ABP Bull of the Future Championships (23 August)
The season’s standout event took place in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, with the ABP Beef Bull of the Future Championships— an initiative introduced by ABPs Stephen Connolly and supported by Eddie Quilty. Irish Hereford Prime was pleased to be a joint sponsor of this highly competitive competition, which drew 100 bull entries and carried a prize fund of €36,000.
Congratulations to Michael O’Keeffe of Co. Cork, whose Hereford bull Gurteragh Superstar 1156 PH was awarded Interbreed Reserve Supreme Champion under judge Harry Emslie of Scotland.
Cappamore Show – All-Ireland Commercial Hereford Class (16 August)
At Cappamore Show, we sponsored Class 26: the All-Ireland Commercial Hereford Bullock or Heifer class, supporting commercial Hereford farmers with a generous prize fund of €1,000.
North Tipperary Agricultural Show (4 August)
At the halfway point of the show season, we proudly sponsored Class 58: the €1,000 Premier Hereford Bull Calf of the Year. This high-stakes class attracted a fantastic lineup of calves, all vying for top honours.
Arva Show – Ulster Bull of the Year (27 July)
Our sponsorship continued in Ulster, where we supported the Ulster Bull of the Year class at Arva Show. With last year’s winner Glaslough Buster setting a high bar, this year’s competition again delivered on quality and excitement.
Ossory Show – Pedigree Hereford Bull Class (27 July)
On the same weekend, we also supported Class 3 at the Ossory Show, spotlighting pedigree Hereford bulls born between 1 July and 30 September 2024. These young bulls represent the next generation of breeding excellence.
Mullingar Show – North Leinster Bull & Heifer of the Year (13 July)
Next up, we returned to Mullingar Show to sponsor the North Leinster Bull & Heifer of the Year competitions. These hotly contested classes are always highlights of the event, recognising top breeding talent from across the province.
Charleville Show – Munster Bull of the Year (28 June)
We kicked off our sponsorships in Charleville by supporting the Munster Bull of the Year 2025. This prestigious title always draws a strong crowd, and this year was no exception as spectators gathered in anticipation of the region’s next top bull.
