Our History of Quality
So much to savour
Certified Irish Hereford Prime has earned a worldwide reputation, not only for its succulence and tenderness but also the care and commitment which characterises its production.
A story of quality, commitment & care
Certified Irish Hereford Prime has a compelling story to tell. Over two centuries, the Hereford breed has been established as the world’s foremost source of succulent, flavoursome beef. How this has been achieved and who is responsible is a tale of dedication to the highest standards across many generations.
We have grown since our establishment in 1997. This is due to our vision, the proactive nature of our partners, farming members and an unrivalled market demand for Certified Irish Hereford Prime beef from both the Irish and European markets.
How it all began
A key chapter in the Irish Hereford Prime story begins in Sens, Bourgogne, France with master butcher Jean Denaux. Nearly 30 years ago, Jean’s search for beef with exceptional tenderness, flavour and consistency led him to Ireland, where he recognised the unique quality of our grass-based Hereford cattle and the dedication of the farmers behind them. Long before Irish Hereford Prime became a brand, Jean championed its potential, introducing it to some of France’s finest chefs and restaurants. His belief was simple “the pleasure on the plate must come first” and his customers tasted the difference. Pioneers like Jean helped establish the reputation for quality that continues to define Certified Irish Hereford Prime today.
