2022 Hereford Photo & Calendar Competition
The Irish Hereford Breed Society and Irish Hereford Prime are delighted to announce the launch of their 3rd annual Hereford Photo & Calendar Competition with a prize fund of over €2,000 on offer again this year.
This year brings a change to the categories for entry meaning there are four categories including one feature sustainability category. Each photo entry must be accompanied by a caption. Competition photos and entry details may be uploaded here.
Tennyson Egar of Irish Hereford Prime said that he “would encourage people of all ages to go out and take photographs of their Hereford animals and to also have a go at the Prime Beef category, as there are significant prizes to be won”.
Prizes
One cash prize of €500 will be awarded to the Winner.
1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded in each category to the value of 1st €250 & 2nd €150. (A choice of a SuperValu or Farm Wardrobe voucher).
Categories for Competition
- Herefords – The Natural Choice – Pedigree Hereford animals – all cows, heifers, bulls, calves accepted.
- The HEX Factor – Hereford cross cattle (Male or Female) in their natural environment.
- Prime Beef – Best photo of cooked or fresh Hereford beef suitable for any occasion.
- Hereford an Environmentally Sustainable Breed – Best photo showing how our Hereford farmers look after the environment and make significant contributions to biodiversity.
The closing date for entries is midnight on the 2nd September 2022. An independent judge will shortlist the entries. These shortlisted photos will be available for the public to vote online from Friday 9th September 2022 until 10am on Friday 16th September 2022 on the Irish Hereford Breed Society Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/IrishHereford.
All entries will be judged primarily on the photo quality and not just the cattle. Although good Herefords are always a winner!
