The Oliver

Newry

Hearty, honest and authentic is how The Oliver restaurant in Newry is described. Owned and run by Chef Colleen Lennon, The Oliver sits at the centre of Newry town and is popular with locals and tourists alike.

The foundation of The Oliver’s menu is traditional fare; however, they have a seasonal specials menu which allows the chefs to showcase their fine dining skills and offer something a little bit different.

When she first opened The Oliver, Colleen tried different beef from a range of butchers but struggled to find the quality and consistency of beef she was happy with, until she tried Irish Hereford Prime.
“We’ve been using Irish Hereford Prime for three years now and I’ve never looked back.”

Colleen explains that it is the marbling of Irish Hereford Prime beef that gives her the level of flavour she is looking for.
“There is no point in having a piece of beef that you have to constantly season to get a flavour from. Irish Hereford Prime has all the flavour it needs.”

I would absolutely recommend Irish Hereford Prime, it has great quality, consistency and flavour and I’ve never found steak like it.

The chefs at The Oliver have recently created a rib eye steak sandwich that is proving to be a very popular dish. It’s served with a chimichurri sauce, grated mozzarella, butter roast thyme mushrooms and parmesan fries.
