Lara Battigelli shares her quick, healthy, and delicious recipe for Beef & Onion Stir Fry. Ready in under 30 minutes, this dish combines tender Irish Hereford Prime Sirloin Steak with a rich, savoury sauce.

Ingredients

Steak Marinade

  • 2 Irish Hereford Prime Sirloin Steaks
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • Black pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 100ml water
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornflour

Stir Fry

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 white onion, sliced
  • Bunch of scallions, sliced (greens and whites separated)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 300g cooked noodles or rice

Method

  1. Thinly slice the steak against the grain and marinate with the steak marinade ingredients for at least 15 minutes.
  2. While the steak marinates, mix the sauce ingredients and slice the onion, scallions, and garlic.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp sesame oil in a pan and sauté the whites of the scallions and the onion for 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, fry the steak until browned, about 3 minutes per side.
  5. Add the sauce and garlic to the pan. Once the sauce begins to thicken (about 1 minute), return the onions and add the scallion greens.
  6. Add a little water if needed to adjust the sauce consistency.
  7. Toss in cooked noodles or rice and serve immediately.
